Abstracts are invited for the Australasian Society for Ultrasound in Medicine 42nd Annual Scientific Meeting 2012. The theme of the Meeting is Excellence and Innovation.

If you wish to submit an abstract for consideration by the Organising Committee, you must also intend to register for the Meeting. Online submission is the only method of receipt of abstracts.

Presentation Types

  • Oral Presentation
    The Committee will be inviting you to submit abstracts to be considered for inclusion as an oral presentation in the Scientific Meeting Program. The first stage of the submission process is a 200 word outline of what the author/s proposes to cover within.
  • E poster Submission
    E-poster submissions will open early in February 2012 for consideration to be displayed at the Meeting. To submit an abstract authors are required to put submit a 200 word outline of what will be covered within the 12 slide ppt eposter presentation.
  • Either Oral or E Poster Presentation
    You may opt to submit your abstract for either an Oral or Eposter Presentation. This will mean that should you be unsuccessful in an oral position you could automatically be eligible for an E-poster position. The first stage of the submission process is a 200 word outline of what the author/s proposes to cover within.

Call for Abstract Submission

Abstract submission is a three step process:

STEP 1

Abstract template: Download the Abstract Template, save it to your desktop and complete it.

Use the template to present your abstract in the required format. Abstracts not submitted using this template will be returned for correction.

  • Abstract text must be in Arial, 10pt size, single-spaced and left aligned.
  • Your abstract text should be no more than 250 words, including references.
  • There is to be a maximum of two references.
  • Use standard abbreviations only.  Within the body of the abstract, when using abbreviations spell out the name in full at the first mention and follow with the abbreviation in parenthesis.  Abbreviations may be used in the title, provided the name in full is outlined in the body of the abstract.
  • Your abstract should clearly, and where applicable, concisely outline the Background, Aims/Objectives, Methods, Findings and Conclusions.
  • After completing the abstract template, move onto step 2.

STEP 2

Creating an account/logging into the Speakers Portal

Firstly you must create an account in order to upload an abstract.  To begin, please click on the button entitled “Click Here to Submit Abstract.”

Once you have done this and you have not previously submitted an abstract please click “New Account.”

Your contact details will be required to create the account. You will be automatically logged in, as well as emailed a password for future use.

Once you’ve created an account within this portal you can upload the abstract, review briefing notes, register for the congress, and review speaker terms and conditions.

STEP 3

Submitting your Abstract

Click on “New Abstract.” You will be required to provide the following details prior to uploading the abstract file:

  • Your Contact Details
  • The Title of your Abstract
  • Presentation Type
  • Theme
  • Name and Organisation of all Co-Presenters and Co-Authors
  • Brief Biographies for Yourself and all Co-Presenters.
  • Each Biography should be no more than 100 words
  • Your Completed Abstract Template

Please note:

  • All abstracts must be prepared according to the guidelines provided.  Incomplete or incorrect submissions will be returned to the author and must be re-submitted immediately in the correct format to be considered for inclusion in the program.
  • All fields on the online abstract submission form must be completed.
  • You will be able to access your speaker portal account to make changes, edit or replace your existing submissions until 30 June 2012, After this date, abstracts will be published exactly as they are submitted; there will be no opportunity for amendments from the close of abstracts on 30 June 2012.
  • Abstracts must be submitted by the presenting author who should complete all fields on the online submission form.
  • Submission of your abstract/s implies you have read, understood and comply with the Terms & Conditions as outlined on the website and the speaker portal.

Confirming Your Submissions

You are required to double check your abstract has uploaded correctly and has successfully been converted to a PDF file, during the upload process. If you have any concerns, please contact:

Abstract Review Notification

Abstract review notification will be communicated to the corresponding authors by 16 July 2012. Please note the details provided as the author contact should be for the nominated main contact for your abstract.  All correspondence relating to the submission will be directed to this person, and they should in turn distribute to all co-presenters.


Abstract Presenter Registration

The invitation to submit an abstract does not constitute an offer to pay travel, accommodation or registration costs associated with the Annual Scientific Meeting. Similarly, no presenter fee is paid to successful participants. Registrations are now open.

All presenters must register for the Annual Scientific Meeting by 30 August 2012 in order for the presentation to be included in the Annual Scientific Meeting Program.


Presenter Terms & Conditions

By agreeing to submit an abstract at the Annual Scientific Meeting, I agree to the following terms and conditions:

(i) I take full responsibility for the content of my abstract and presentation.

(ii) I understand that, while I retain ownership of copyright of my presentation the Annual Scientific Meeting Organisers and the Australasian Society of Ultrasound in Medicine may publish my abstract, final paper, PowerPoint presentation and any biographical information, provided by me in the final program and on the Annual Scientific Meeting Website/USB of Proceedings.

(iii) I give permission for my/our abstract/s to be published in the Annual Scientific Meeting handbook or USB.

(iv)  I agree that should I produce a final paper it will reflect the intention of the abstract.

(v)  I understand I should not use my presentation as means of selling my organisations’ products or services.

(vi) I give permission for my presentation to be filmed and recorded and to be uploaded onto the Annual Scientific Meeting website/proceedings.

(vii)  I undertake to provide required items to the Annual Scientific Meeting Organisers by appropriate deadline.

(viii) All documents, memoranda, notes and records relating to the Annual Scientific Meeting produced by either WALDRONSMITH Management, its agents, the staff or representatives of the Australasian Society of Ultrasound in Medicine are and remain the property of Australasian Society of Ultrasound in Medicine 42nd Annual Scientific Meeting.
